Meet The Buyer Event on 9 July 2026 in the Vale Resort

Dear Colleagues,

Following the success of our recent Meet the Buyer event with Torfaen and Monmouthshire County Councils, preparations are now underway for the next event taking place with Cardiff Council and Vale of Glamorgan Council at the Vale Resort on Thursday 9 July.

The previous event welcomed more than 100 local businesses and SMEs, with suppliers highlighting the value of direct conversations with buyers, visibility of upcoming opportunities and practical guidance on how to engage with councils on lower value contracts.

Importantly, we are already seeing tangible outcomes from these events, with businesses securing new contracts and supply chain opportunities as a direct result of discussions held on the day.

To build on this success, we need early engagement and commitment from buyers across service areas.

This event has been specifically designed to:
• Improve visibility of upcoming opportunities under £75K (Route 1 & 2)
• Strengthen relationships with local SMEs and suppliers
• Support local economic growth and community wealth building

To make the event valuable for attendees, buyers are asked to:
• Register attendance as early as possible
• Bring details of upcoming pipelines, projects and programmes
• Be prepared to discuss likely upcoming opportunities and timelines

Each buyer will have a dedicated table with signage displaying:
• Name
• Department/service area
• Topics/opportunities suppliers can discuss with them

The event will be an open networking and engagement session where attendees can move around the room to speak directly with buyers and support organisations, there will also be presentations and talks from key speakers from Organisations such as Business Wales and Sell2Wales.

The quality of conversations at these events is critical. Suppliers have told us clearly that they value honest discussions, visibility of forward work plans, and the opportunity to better understand service requirements and procurement processes.

We appreciate your support in helping make this event a success and ensuring suppliers leave with meaningful engagement and clearer pathways into public sector opportunities.
